RAQUEL SAVAGE IS
Raquel Savage is a mogul, which is what you call a someone who has so many jobs, titles, achievements, and accolades that listing them would feel superfluous. It’s almost surprising Savage had time to talk to me considering the dozens of projects she is intimately involved in.
Many of these projects have grown out of necessity like Kink Media Group, a media company Savage single handedly started in 2020 after being approached in 2019 to be in a reality TV series, about her life, that ultimately didn’t get picked up by any networks because she was a full service sex worker (aka a prostitute). This didn’t discourage her in the slightest because trusting a mainstream network with her story–and the stories of other Black queer and trans sex workers–sounded exploitative at best. Savage saw this time and time again with creative projects that didn’t have Q/T BIPOC at the helm. So, she did what she’s used to doing: built it herself.
